The Greenwood Heritage Society is the governing body of the Museum, Archives and Visitor Centre. The Greenwood Museum Association was formed on June 29, 1967 by a group of citizens realizing the needs to preserve the history of Greenwood. The Association was incorporated under the Societies Act on December 4, 1967 as an educational non-profit society for the preservation of the artifacts and the history.
The City of Greenwood gave the Museum space to set up the Museum in the City Hall until more space was needed and the current location’s official opening was held on May 8, 1982. The Museum has just been renovated and offers visits of the town, of the courthouse and the former jail as well as the access to archives.
